I just returned from my "39 churches ... 1 hour ... 1 prayer" walk in Howick and Pakuranga in Auckland, New Zealand.
One thing which was on my heart while I walked through the area, was an "anchor". I focused on praying for the churches in the area to be places where people will get anchored. Places where the people from Howick and Pakuranga can come to get anchored in their spiritual lives. Anchored to the Word of God. Anchored to Jesus.
As I passed one church, it struck me that there was still parking space available. It really struck a chord in my heart and I prayed (and continue to pray) that the parking areas will fill up. That people will come to church, and your parking areas will overflow.
At another church their was the sweet sound of worship. I say "sweet" because it was how I perceived it - an aroma pleasing to the Lord. And as I passed, I could see that some of the athletes heard it and that they made comments about it. Filled with compassion, my prayer was this - that the sweet sounds of worshipful music will even touch the unbelievers and backslidden as they pass through in the area ... and that it will touch them in their spirit ... and make them "hungry" to know God.
Be blessed as you worship God in a wonderful unashamed way. And may you see a harvest coming from within your own community.
Lord Jesus, we just want to give You all the glory and honour. I just place You in the center of Pakuranga and Howick. You as the Anchor ... the Rock ... we have nothing else in life to turn to Lord. So I pray that the worship and the love of these 39+ churches will bring in more people to You. And that there will be a time of renewed intimacy with You Lord ... that people will once again come to their FIRST LOVE. And that there are those available to help anchor them in their faith.
In Jesus' name. Amen
Be encouraged brothers and sisters in the Lord, and know you are being prayed for; and that God is with you, as you are being prayed for from around the world.
And the race ... I did end up second in the Men's Open Category of the Walkers. (57min 48s - 10km) ...
Thank You Lord for talent, endurance, creativity, stamina and all those little things You have blessed me with. Right now Lord I think of the wheelchair-bound ones on this list. Lord I pray that You will bless them this day with a special surprise from Your Word. Lord I pray that as I used my legs which they couldn't - that you will bless them with something in their hearts which I as a walker wouldn't be able to grasp ... I pray that You just bless them with special special encouragement from Your Word, as they read it (today).
Thank You Jesus
Amen.
