Lost in Prayer

Precious lessons learnt from the Holy Spirit about prayer and of the Father’s love, while on a 60-day Prayer-journey through New Zealand … and why I got zealously Lost in Prayer How wearing the full armour of Eph 6 and a backpack, a tent and food for 10 days, 40 SMS prayer partners, a little yellow guitar, a map, a pair of worn-out shoes and a scimpy little cap, childlike faith and just being crazy enough to step outside the square, started me off on a life-changing adventure with Jesus … As I reached the southern end of my prayer-journey through New Zealand I turned around and looked back in the direction where I journeyed for the previous 60 days (42 days prayer-walking, 16 days bike-praying, 2 days bus-praying and 2 hours prayer-in-the-air). I prayed a final prayer for New Zealand and God spoke to me through a little yellow sign with four words on it. My heart gave four wild jumps and I knew that this mission was accomplished. It was autumn, 2002 and I was walking on a dirt road, ju

Timing for prayer-walk

Three months after starting to plan for this prayer-walk, I finally see the bigger plan the Lord has been orchestrating all the time. As soon as I realised I could go on this prayer-walk, I was ready to go immediately. But I felt in my heart the Lord said ... wait ... So, early in January I prayed and got the answer to start on 25 March. And yesterday - 19 March, I heard about Ryan Craig. He is doing the same as I - also been called about 3-4 months ago. Except - he is starting from Invercargill in the South, and I will be starting from Auckland in the North. He is starting on Easter Sunday, and I am starting the day after Easter. And we will be covering the country in prayer from both sides. Now Lord Jesus ... we just humble ourselves before You in awe. We just bow in reverence and we say ... Your ways are awesome. and we praise You Jesus. We worship You and just want to be found in Your presence. We worship You Jesus [sing sing sing sing sing] amen ...

Joy on a prayerwalk

Over the weekend I walked way up north as a bit of a training exercise to see how I would cope with long distance. As I walked, I prayed this over many of the passing motorists: Lord, just give that person joy right now - even as they are driving. And give them travelling mercies Lord so the joy wouldn't cause accidents. Lord, let it be such a full measure of joy that it will impact their lives... And 2 days later someone came up to me and asked if I was walking up north past Warkworth. i replied that it was me, and this person said that he noticed me as he was driving on that road, and as he went past me, he just felt such a measure of joy come over him ... and he mentioned that he will always remember that day!! And now I know God has in a sovereign way also shown me that those prayers were not in vain. And I just thank Jesus for encouraging and preparing me in body, mind and spirit for this trip. Amen.

Orchestrated prayerwalk

Today I want to share with you how the Lord orchestrated some wonderful “co-incidental” meetings for me to help prepare for the Auckland to Invercargill prayer-walk. This is an amazing story and I give God all the glory for just caring about the detail so much, that He brought some real practical things to help me prepare. I prepared to go for a 30km prayer-walk as part of my training. I packed my backpack and planned the route. About 3 hours before I left, I was asked to help someone else to get to church, which took me in a different direction and I started the walk in a totally different place from where i planned. About 10km into this walk, a woman walking with walking poles, and a backpack, stopped and asked me how far it was to the Takapuna camp grounds. And so we started talking about where she was going, and it turned out she was on Day 16 of walking from the north (Cape Reinga) to the south (Invercargill) of New Zealand. Because she was also a keen mountaineer, I wanted to kno

Auckland to Invercargill prayer-walk: the preparation

On 25 March I will set out for my longest prayer-walk yet. Auckland to Invercargill; Over 1600km in 60 days. I felt it would be good to test my equipment and the weight I will carry ... Just so I can be confident to start the prayer-walk with my full attention on praying from the very start. This weekend I did a practise-prayer-walk, camping / sleeping on the ground / eating the kind of foods I would be having (vegies, nuts, raisins, bananas, water etc) / praying and being led by God to minister and pray. Now I know one thing for sure: This prayer-walk will be for the glory of the Lor. The glory of God to be manifest in New Zealand. Leading to a deepening of relationships with God ... revival It is to be stated here that the prayer-walker has no special level of faithfulness or holiness ... no qualifications or bible-knowledge; except being available AND has been allowed to do this because of God's faithfullness and God's love. While planning the prayer-walk, I had to lay down
